The Gitzo Lateral Arm, Geared Version is recommended for Gitzo Series 3 (and larger) tripods, and measures 32cm in length while offering 28.5cm of travel.
A lateral arm enables cameras to be positioned above or below the tripod in a 90° position, which might otherwise be obstructed by the tripod legs. They're available in rapid and geared versions and include a reversible 1/4 and 3/8" mounting stud.
